Sony : The PSVita is our simple console

It's not just third-party developers who tout the qualities of the PlayStation Vita. Indeed, senior representatives from Sony have not hesitated to affirm each turn, the strengths of the youngest in terms of development, not to mention working with third-party vendors in order to avoid repeating the mistakes with the PlayStation 3.

Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Computer Entertainment:

"It has great potential and peak performance, but programming for the PlayStation was a real challenge. In a sense, Kutaragi was happy that there is the challenge for developers. He hired the best programmers in the world who could make best use of the performance of PlayStation platforms.

It was great for development teams who loved challenges. Today there is a larger developer community. Our goal is not the same, it is not to make the most of the material, but to have a production process easier. This is because there needs a lot of people to a game's development effectiveness is increasingly important."

Michael Denny, Vice President, SCE:

"As for the ease of development, the PS Vita is a platform where we were very attentive. In terms of development, PlayStation Vita offers something similar to the PSP, and with the support we give to developers, I can tell you that the platform is the easiest and most supported. In terms of performance, graphics capabilities, you can get very close to what you get on PS3. This is a great contrast between the ease of development on one side, and made you get from the system."

Richard Lee, head of the division Techonologies:

"We are aiming to do all this as quickly as possible. I think we have gained experience with the PS3, and decided to have a nice development environment that is compatible with the tools normally used by third-party developers. There has never been anything like that on a PlayStation platform. This is a great environment, and the content available before the launch is really good in terms of assistance to developers, with performances that follow."

By providing development tools suitable for all programmers, Sony does not cut a panel of potential developers and allows for all types of games to emerge on the future PlayStation Vita. The purpose of the Japanese firm is to provide a console general public, accessible to all.
